RFID: Knowing the Difference of Efficiency vs. Effectiveness

 | Submit to Digg digg it | Submit to Reddit reddit | Add to delicious delicious | Submit to StumbleUpon StumbleUpon | Share on LinkedIn LinkedIn

Knowing the difference between efficiency and effectiveness is crucial; even though they can seem the same.  There is a difference, and knowing that difference can alter your marketing results dramatically.  However you are employed, be it self-employed or not, you spend time in your days doing one or the other, or both.  The actual definitions of the words help in determining which is used for what.  Effectiveness can be defined as doing what will eventually get you to your end goal.  Now on the other hand, efficiency can be defined as doing a task the quickest and easiest way.  So, one gives you a long term effect, while the other is short term.

While running a business, if you only run efficiently, you are not going to run very well.  Yes, things may run faster, but at times you are sacrificing quality for quantity.  Applied correctly, efficiency can become a great asset.  In network marketing, correctly applied efficiency is very important.  You can spend your time running around, quickly becoming overwhelmed if you do not practice efficiency right.  Two people can end up doing the same amount of work; while the one that is efficiently using their time wisely will be less overwhelmed and end up spending less time altogether.

If you started your own business looking to make more money, but to also lessen long work hours, you need to be efficient.  If not, you are actually wasting your time.  Horribly long hours burn people out; therefore making the work much less effective.

RFID Provides Both Efficiency & Effectiveness

Let's say that you own a clothing store, utilizing RFID technology through Sap Business One will accurately speed up physical inventory counts vs. the traditional way of counting inventory.  When it comes to efficiency and effectiveness, you have to have a happy medium if you expect to make more money.

Using the 80/20 Rule

The 80/20 rule is a very important rule for long time business owners as well as new ones.  80% of all your results need to come directly from only 20% of work.  Manage your time wisely, and remove any tasks that are not important.  If there are tasks that aren't really beneficial; let them go.  Spend your time on what is important and what must be done to bring in the results that you are looking for.  Practicing this will help guarantee you a long standing and healthy business.

SAP Business One, RFID

Hello Netizens of the World Wide Web,

Welcome! - In this blog we hope to share and explore new ideas in Business Automation. We'll discuss many of the cutting edge hardware and software solutions that are making companies more efficient today.

One such example is the use of RFID to speed up physical inventory counts, especially if the items are small, or in physical bundles. Scanning a tray of jewelry, rings or earings using RFID for example is by far faster, and just as accurate, as scanning the bar code of each item. You can pick up 30-40 items on each pass using RFID, where if you were to scan the bar code, you would only get one or two in the same time frame. The tags are reusable, though they do need to be associated with the new item to be reused.

These systems are ususally integrated with the company's business management system, such as SAP Business One.

This is just one small example of how a 'passive' RFID system can greatly add value to a compay's bottom line using automation to achieve more efficiency.

There are also 'active' RFID systems where the item can report it's current location in the warehouse, so if it is moved by mistake to another bin, or removed from the warehouse, the system is alerted. Similar systems are used at the docs in San Pedro and other ports to track the movement of shipping containers being unloaded from the cargo ships as they are inspected. These types of systems, whether passive or active, can be cusomized to each installation to best fit the company's needs.

For over 10 years Covient has been helping companies improve their efficiency, reduce costs and become more competitive and profitable using the latest automation systems.
